–GEUSBC 3 Generation Trios, THIS Sat., Sept. 21, AMF Southwest Lanes

It was a hit last year so it’s back! The 3 Generation Trios tournament is a fundraiser for our local GEUSBC youth program. There are two squads offered—10am or 2pm. Trios teams are comprised of (1) Youth bowler (20 & under); (1) Adult bowler (21-49); and (1) Senior bowler (50 & up). Cost to enter is $70 per trios team ($20 for Youth and $25/ea. for Adult & Senior) for three games of competition. It is a handicap tournament (80% of 220). Side pots & Brackets will also be available. For more info or to get signed up, email info@geusbc.org.

–PBA Acquired by Bowlero

Bowlero, which has been hosting the Bowlero Elite Series, has really gone big time by acquiring the PBA this past week. Bowlero is the company that was BowlMor. BowlMor has been phased out. AMF centers are converting to Bowlero centers to give you a little insight on these names we’ve been exposed to. AMF Southwest is set very soon to be transitioned into a Bowlero.

So what does this deal mean?
– Bowlero’s Chief Customer Officer, Colie Edison, becomes the CEO of the PBA while Tom Clark remains the Commissioner.
– No impact on the PBA’s 2020 schedule as it is currently comprised.
– No impact on the PBA’s deal with FOX.
– No impact on the streaming deal with FloBowling.
– Bowlero, which has been holding its Bowlero Elite Series on NBCSN, a competing network, will honor that contract for this year.
– Bowlero’s ownership of the PBA does not mean PBA Tour events will be held only at Bowlero centers.

–Weekly Super Scores
– Great comeback game (after taking 4 years off from bowling) to Keri Bost who bowled a 245 game with a 618 series on Mon., Sept. 16, at AMF Southwest Lanes bowling in the Flaming 7’s league. She did bowl last season but this is her first big break after returning to the sport.
– Speaking of comebacks…also congratulations to Don Snow who bowled a natural 300 on Sun., Sept. 15, after he bowled a No-Tap 300 in the Gambling Fever league at AMF Southwest Lanes with an 810 series. The natural 300 came after he finished bowling league for the night when he had to bowl a make-up. Said Snow, “I was shocked! Never in my life did I think I’d get another one!” Snow’s last career 300 game was in 2010 which was right before he broke his back. Wow!
– First 300 games of the 2019-20 season were bowled on Thurs., Sept. 12th, at AMF Southwest Lanes. First one of the night was rolled by Tim Henson, bowling in the Stockdale Open league. Then, for his last game of the night, Chris Garcia, bowled a 300 game bowling on the other end of the center bowling in the Lowenders league.
– First 700 series by a female of the season goes to Lenore Espinoza, who got her strikes going for a nice 725, bowling in the Mex.-American Trios league at AMF Southwest Lanes on Tues., Sept. 10 with games of 255-236-234!

–Condolences & Sympathy
– Our condolences to David & Cheryl McMahan and their families in the recent loss of David’s mom, Ruby McMahan on Sept. 11. She was 89. Her services were Mon., Sept. 16 at St. Francis Catholic Church.

NEW! NEW! Coffee Club is on Sunday mornings NOW starting soon after 12:00 noon at AMF Southwest Lanes. Cost to enter is $25 for 4 games, blind doubles draw. Optional high pots, singles, and 3-6-9. Handicapped and fun bowling with some great local bowlers! And, once a month, a No-Tap Tournament will be scheduled!!

**Strike Pot is a new game we started. It’s about purchasing raffle tickets for $1 each (max. $5 total per person). During the second game we draw one ticket and that person must bowl a strike for the cash in the pot. If a strike isn’t bowled, then that person gets $10 and the amount is rolled over. If a person misses a week or more and chooses to participate for the total, they must pay $5 per week missed; if not, they only get amount raised that day if their ticket is drawn and they bowl a strike.

NEWER! NEWER!! Danielle Looney has created Coffee Club Tee’s!! She is selling them for $20 each and they are available in a variety of colors. You can also have your name put on them (it can be placed on the front below the logo or on the back across the shoulders) for a total cost of $25. If you would like to sport one of these, send Danielle Looney a message on Facebook and you are set!
