A trio of 300’s to report!
--David Harris rolled a 300 game on Monday, December 5, bowling in the Monday Nite Men’s league at Mt. Mesa Lanes in Lake Isabella. He also had a 711 series that night.
--Mike Hefley rolled a 300 game this past Tuesday, December 13, bowling in the Tuesday Men’s Handicap league at Regency Lanes. He rolled a pair of 186 games and then got down to business for his third game and started stringing the strikes. Hefley’s team was bowling Randy Carter’s team and Randy just had to mention to Mike when they were in the eighth frame of that third game “you are going to shoot a 300 but you need 340 to win the game!” Mike added that Randy was right, “we lost by 30!”
--Also on Tuesday, December 13, but over at AMF Southwest Lanes, Joe “JP” Smith rolled a 300 game bowling in the Aquaducks league. He was bowling with an original Hammer Black Widow ball that the late Leon Stroope gave to his dad, Tom. Smith’s last perfecto was bowled a year ago, December 21, when he lived in Missoula Montana.
Smith competed in the Visalia Masters at AMF Visalia Lanes, the weekend of December 10-11 and finished with a third place. He averaged 253 in qualifying and had the front 9 in his last game for a nice 279.
On an added note, this past Sunday, Joe and his mom, Veronica Davis, bowled in the No-Tap 5 Gamer held at AMF Visalia Lanes where Veronica ended up winning the tournament with a 1514 and a 298 for her last game. Joe placed sixth with a 1376 that included two no-tap 300 games!
